Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More (Live at Reading Festival 2010) – 1/9

Mumford and Sons – Sigh No More (Live 27.08.2010)

Serve God love me and men
This is not the end
Live unbruised we are friends
And I’m sorry
I’m sorry

Sigh no more, no more
One foot in sea, one on shore
My heart was never pure
You know me
You know me

And man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing

Love that will not betray you, dismay or enslave you,
It will set you free
Be more like the man you were made to be.
There is a design,
An alignment to cry,
At my heart you see,
The beauty of love as it was made to be

I'm at the lowest point I've ever been in my life.. Going to spare everyone the details but I basically hate myself. I haven't been calm in weeks, finally had this song pop up in my head, decided to look it up.. Not happy, but finally somewhat calm.

The lyrics are inspired by Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing. There's a song in this play which says :
"Sigh no more, ladies, sigh nor more; Men were deceivers ever; One foot in sea and one on shore, To one thing constant never; Then sigh not so, But let them go, And be you blithe and bonny; Converting all your sounds of woe Into. Hey nonny, nonny."

In the final act, Benedik says : "Man is a giddy thing, that's my conclusion."

This song is, as some have noted, complementary to the play Much Ado About Nothing, by Shakespeare. The line "Sigh No More, No More/One Foot in Sea, One on Shore" is from a popular song included in the play. The lines "Serve God, Love Me and Mend" and "Man is a Giddy Thing" are iconic lines from the play, both revolving around the couple Beatrice and Benedick. They are clearly in love, but are unable to get past their stubborn and strong willed personalities. They are in fact "too alike," and th
